NEW CD SET TO BE RELEASED BY NIGHTINGALE CONANT
A set of six 1-hour CDs in a toolkit presentation is to be released for general sale in mid-January. Further details to follow. You are welcome to leave expressions of interest at the office.
TUTOR TRAINING COHORT
We currently have eight new Tutors nearing the end of their training programme, with a further four training only to offer telephone mentoring. We are on-track to deliver workshops for the unemployed and people made redundant. Several other possible areas of work are opening up also, that would keep these tutors busy.
OFFICE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT ATTACHMENT
Janet Wonnacott runs ‘Almond Vocational Link’, placing young, qualified administrators from Europe in UK work experience posts. After two successful placements in the summer, we now have a further two at the same time! Plenty to keep them busy. They have a wonderful effect on the level of tidiness, and the care of potted plants in the room!
HUI SHAN
At the last year’s European Symposium I met Hui Shan Hsu (also named Mary), a visiting speaker from Taiwan. We have subsequently completed the Distance Learning tutorials using Skype. Hui Shan has trained large numbers of ‘grassroots’ pastoral workers in Taiwan. We have had numerous entertaining conversations about cultural differences, and whether Emotional Logic can help people in the Far East to make personal adjustments more easily. Hui Shan is currently translating Emotional Logic into Chinese and re-designing the course to suit the mind-set. Photographs are attached of how she is modifying the cards to help people express their wide range of emotions, which they are not used to doing. Thank you, Mary! We are taking steps informally towards The Emotional Logic Centre – Taiwan.
WALES, AND UNEMPLYMENT SERVICES
Continuing our International theme, a Regional Manager responsible for services for the long-term unemployed and people made redundant throughout Wales is strongly advocating for the place of Emotional Logic in the range of services Working Links provides nationally. Regardless of what happens for the government’s Flexible New Deal scheme (for the recently redundant), we hope to provide services for the long-term unemployed, particularly single mothers. We shall need to train a large number of Core Level tutors locally to deliver a specially designed workshop.
So, activity is increasing, and hope abounds!
Remember, a creative conversation needs only one, well directed learning point about grief process to change someone’s life. How about this one, to make this a creative News Update? To prepare your heart to have a creative conversation with someone, first ask yourself, “So, what am I afraid to lose in this conversation?” Then, after a bit of assertive Bargaining with yourself, you could recover the use of your ‘Prevent Loss’ Turning Point, and so be more relaxed about the conversation!
OFFICE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT ATTACHMENT Janet Wonnacott runs ‘Almond Vocational Link’, placing young, qualified administrators from Europe in UK work experience posts. She has kindly arranged for Desiree Boewe from Germany to join us for a month full –time, working under Joe McAllister’s guidance. She will be helping in all the aspects of the office administration. In particular she will transfer our Tutorials and Exercise Booklets into electronic versions, so that we can more easily sell courses worldwide.
TUTOR TRAINING COHORT On 13th June we held an introductory workshop for our next cohort of six people who are starting out on the career path to become Emotional Logic Tutors. We shall be holding a follow-up group discussion on the afternoon of Wednesday 24th July in Plympton, near Plymouth. Other people who are taking Distance Learning may later choose to join the career path, so if you would like to encourage anyone in this direction, a new cohort could start later this year, or early in 2010.
KEVERAL FARM, SEATON, CORNWALL An evening presentation is booked in a barn-conversion conference room just outside Seaton in South Cornwall on Tuesday 14th July, starting at 7.30, arranged by Joe Naylor. Wendy Bristow and Trevor will introduce people to the cards and worksheets, showing how they can be used for personal development and couple-enrichment. Booking is necessary. If you know of people who would like to be introduced to Emotional Logic, please ask them to contact the office to book a place and get travel details.
POLAND TRIP Trevor has been a leading member of an annual Symposium group of European psychologists, theologians and health professionals who have been meeting now for twenty-one years to compare and describe diverse ways to understand personal wholeness and health. The aim is to help people set reasonable goals and outcomes for any type of personal development intervention, which will lead to physical, psychological and social-spiritual balance. He recently went to Warsaw for this year’s weekend Symposium, which is now a gathering of friends with a few new faces each year. Several expressed interest to trial introductory Emotional Logic workshops in English, so over the coming year we shall see what evolves in Switzerland, Germany, Poland and South Africa. It’s all a bit of fun with some interesting possibilities!
